The use

N  Simple past tense expresses an action which happened at a specific time in the past and is now finished.

N  Simple past tense is used to tell a story.

Example to Narrative text

There was once a man who lived in a small house in the country. One day he left his house and went into town. On the way he met a beggar who didn’t wear clothes. So, the man asked the beggar why he didn’t wear clothes. Rudely, the beggar answered: “Did you think before you said that? I am a beggar. What did you expect?”

Guru menunjuk beberapa siswa dan menanyakan pertanyaan tentang Lebaran mereka tahun lalu, seperti:

Kemudian guru bertanya kepada seluruh siswa di dalam kelas seperti:

N  Dari pertanyaan yang saya tanyakan pada teman-teman kalian, siapa yang mengetahui jenis waktu apa yang saya gunakan?

Guru menjelaskan materi pembelajaran yang akan dibahas yaitu penggunaan simple past tense, rumus dan contoh dari simple past tense dalam bentuk kalimat dan juga cerita narrative. Setelah guru selesai menjabarkan materi, guru memberikan kesempatan kepada siswa untuk bertanya seputar materi yang sedang dibahas.

Guru membagi siswa menjadi beberapa kelompok yang terdiri dari 5-6 orang. Kemudian guru memerintahkan siswa untuk menempel kalimat-kalimat sesuai dengan bentuknya (positive, negative, introgative) di papan tulis.

Guru menyuru siswa untuk menganalisa kalimat tersebut (mana subjek, verb two, dan objeknya).
