How to Be Successful
Learning how to be successful at anything in life is an important factor when it comes to your happiness. Success is basically achieving a predetermined outcome. Whether you want to do well in school, in business, at your job, in a relationship, or in any other area, knowing how to get from where you are to where you want to be is important because you will be spending the majority of your life doing just that. If you do research on ways to be successful, you will find hundreds of different strategies. Although the details are different, all of these strategies boil down to only a couple of different methods.
The first method on how to become successful is the trial and error method. This is where you basically determine your outcome and just start taking action. When you make a mistake or fail to achieve your goal, you just learn from your mistakes, readjust your strategies, and then take some more action. This is how most things get inventing, through trial and error. It was said that Thomas Edison attempted several thousand times to create the light bulb. All he did was continually find out what didn’t work and crossed it off the list until he found something that did work.
When it comes to knowing how to become successful in business, much of it is also trial and error. You start a business by taking action, you get results, you see which results are bad and which are good, and you go back to take more of the actions that produced the good results. Often, people can go through years or even decades with this method. If you are the first one to do something, then this is fine. That’s how most of us learn to walk. We take our first steps and fall afterwards. We get up and try again and again until one day, we are able to walk without even thinking about it.
The other method of becoming successful is to model other people’s strategies. Instead of going through years of trial and error, you can drastically cut down the learning curve by doing what other people who have gotten the outcomes you want did. This is why there are teachers and coaches. They are there to teach you what works and what doesn’t work from their experience so you don’t have to waste time going through it yourself.
You can model anyone. If you want to know how to be a successful student, then find student who are doing really well and find out what they are doing. Find out how much time they devote to studying each night. Find out how they remember things and what questions they ask themselves when trying to learn something new. If you want to know how to be a successful manager, the same strategy applies. Find someone who is already successful at managing people and do what they do.
Knowing how to be successful in life will give you greater happiness. When you are unable to achieve the things you set out to achieve, it can cause you to feel pretty lousy. Many people think success comes down to capability but realize that we are all capable of great success. The problem is the approach. The best thing to do if you want to be successful is to do what successful people do. They didn’t become successful by accident. Learn what they did and do the same things. How to Make Yourself Happy
Knowing how to make yourself happy comes down to knowing how causes you to feel the way you do. When you understand what makes you happy in the first place, you can use that knowledge to continue to feel happy. Instead of trying to find happiness as if it is something outside of you, you need to search for it within. Not only that, you need to be able to activate those feelings as well. There are lots of ways to feel happy but let me offer you some tips that might help.
One way to make yourself happy is to focus on things that make you happy. Most of the time, people are unhappy because they keep focusing on negative things. I don’t care how happy you are, if you go around constantly thinking about depressing things, sooner or later, you are going to start feeling pretty lousy. Your emotions, whether happiness or anything else, can be controlled by what you focus on and what meaning you give to things.
For example, will getting a meal to eat for dinner make you happy? That depends. If you are accustomed to having 3 meals a day, then you’ll probably just be neutral about it but if you haven’t eaten in a few days, that one meal can make you extremely happy. What if you make minimum wage and suddenly land a job that pays 3 times as much? Will that make you happy? What if you were already making 10 times more than the minimum wage but got demoted or had a pay cut and not you are making only 3 times the minimum wage? Will you be happy now?
As you can see, things don’t make you happy. It is your perception and the meaning that you give to those “things” that make you happy. This is why people in 3rd world countries can experience happiness while you have celebrities who have everything and end up committing suicide. When you make the mistake of thinking that happiness comes from external things, it will be hard to stay happy. Only you can make yourself happy. Now that you know this, here are some ways to make yourself happy.
How to Make Yourself Happy
1. Focus on what you already have and be grateful for it. Just think about a time in your life when you didn’t have the things you now have in your life. The friends, the relationships, the career, etc. When you focus on what is good in your life, it will make you feel happier.
2. Make making yourself happy easy. Too often we place all of these conditions on what has to happen before we can allow ourselves to be happy. “If I don’t have $100k in savings, then I can’t be happy.” “If I don’t achieve 10% body fat, then I can’t be happy.” When you place rules that make it hard for you to be happy, you may find yourself very unhappy.
One easy rule you can set up for yourself is, “If I am able to wake up in the morning, I will be happy.”
3. Be happy in the pursuit of your goals. Instead of trying to acquire things and achieve goals in order to be happy, why not be happy while you pursue your goals. In other words, don’t seek happiness, happily seek. Or to put it in another way, enjoy the journey, not just the destination. Experiencing this is a lot easier when you’re doing something you love.
Knowing how to make yourself happy comes down to realizing that you can allow yourself to be happy simply by letting go of all of the conditions that you have allowed society to place on yourself. The conditions that this and that has to happen before you can feel happy will only make being happy difficult. It’s great to go for goals and dreams and you should, but don’t place your happiness on whether or not you accomplish those goals. Learn to be happy in pursuit of those goals and dreams. After all, isn’t the purpose of life to be happy? If so, stop pursing it and just be.

Life Motivation
The next thing you will want to do is to focus on the positive things. You can do this by asking yourself the right questions. So instead of, “Why does my life suck”, you will want to ask, “What is good in my life right now? What can I be excited about my life right now if I really wanted to?” By asking empowering questions, your mind will start to focus on empowering things. A lack of life motivation can come down to not knowing what you want in life. It can also be that you don’t really want anything out of life. However, this is rarely the real reason for not having motivation in life. It’s hard to find out what you want for your life if you are currently in a wrong mindset. Let’s say you’re stressed out. Would it be a good time to ask you to put together a business plan? Probably not. So in order to find that motivation in your life to do things, you will first need to get yourself in the right state of mind. Keep in mind that if you have severe depression, then you will want to seek professional help.
The first thing you will need to do is to understand why you feel the way you feel. There are basically three factors that will determine how you feel at any given moment. The first thing is your physiology. If you are walking around like you’re depressed, you’re going to feel depressed. Your body posture can have a huge effect in the way you feel. The next thing is your focus. If you focus on how life sucks, it’ll be hard to find any motivation to do anything with your life. The third thing is your standards. If you have a standard that says, “It’s okay to be mediocre in life”, then that is what you will experience.
So how does knowing these things have to do with finding motivation in life? Well, as I mentioned earlier, the reason why you have a lack of motivation in life is because you don’t know what it is that you want. The reason why you don’t know what you want is probably because you are in the state of, “I don’t care”. In order to give your life some meaning and give yourself some life motivation, you will need to have a purpose. In order to do this, you will first need to get out of your lousy mentality.
What you will want to do is to force yourself to get excited by changing your body movements. If you are currently moving slowly, have a slouched back, your head down, and are breathing shallow, change that by walking fasters, straightening you back, put your head up, and breath more fully. This will create a change in your physical chemistry and will start to instantly make you feel better.
The last step to have more motivation for life is to change your standards. Up until now, you probably have pretty low standards for yourself. You don’t really expect much out of your life and therefore have no motivation in life. The best way to get out of this rut is to start surrounding yourself with people who are full of life motivation. Since you become who you spend most of your time with, by hanging out with people who are alive, people who have a purpose and are going for their dreams and goals, you will start to pick up their way of thinking as well.
